"A dream is a wish your heart makes"

I hope not. I have some messed up dreams.
I've taken part in the blog challenge hosted by Mrs.K and co-hosted by Laney
Topic Chosen: A Dream Dress

My dream dress would be jade. with black lace. Not a Cinderella dress, but not a short prom dress. It would be beautiful.

When I was younger, in 8th grade, I asked my mom how much it'd cost to get a personal designer. She told me that was out of the question. I just wanted neon green skinny jeans. Then they invented them. By that point it was far too overrated, ugh. This has turned into a letter to my younger self in a way too, huh? Haha.

My first shots

I love this picture of my brother's cat Taylor. It focused perfectly on her cute little face, with a birthmark on her nose. However, she's terrified of the camera now and hides anytime it comes out. Hehe.

I collected 3 of the Adventure Time McDonalds toys. I was hoping to get Beemo!! As you can see, I got Finn, Jake, and Ice King.

I was very upset when LalaOopsie came out for sale. I wanted to get crafty with the idea of "oopsie" instead of "loopsie". They beat me to it.

To end the shots, here's one of my boyfriends butt. c:

Giveaway + Ginger Mandy Photography

I'm honored to say I had the privilege to interview Mandy of Ginger Mandy Photography. I love her prints, as they're very different. There's a perfect print for anybody, you just have to explore them all! My personal favorites are the scrabble tiles collection.

How long have you been a photographer?

I got my first DSLR in December 2010 and after taking more than 2,000 photos on a 2-month trip to California that spring, I decided to start selling prints on Etsy because it was so much fun to edit them and see what I could create.

What inspired you to start the art of photography?

The movie Where The Heart Is with Natalie Portman. Silly, I know, but after that movie, I developed a huge interest in it. Once I started blogging in 2008, I had the itch to get into photography and finally got my hands on a good quality camera.

Did you learn the skill on your own, schooling, from a friend, etc...?

I learned it all on my own. A friend showed me the basics of shooting in manual, and from there I refused to take it out of manual until it became second nature to me. The whole point of having a DSLR is to know how to use it, and I was determined to figure it out.

What's your favorite style of photography?

I don’t really have a favorite style, I find things I like in just about everything.

Who/what is your biggest inspiration?

I’m honestly not sure, it could be anything from a cool tree to a TV show that lights a fire under my ass and gives me the urge to pick up my camera. I hardly take any photos in the winter because everything is uninteresting to me, and instead focus on writing, working out and more recently, climbing. Come spring, I’m sure I’ll be dying to get out and take photos of the pretty things happening outside. I’ve realized that photography is very hot/cold for me. I don’t think I’ve taken any new photos for my shop since November.

Do you consider it a hobby or a career?

It’s a hobby, but I like the extra cash flow that comes from my shop. I know everyone says you shouldn’t do things for the money, and I don’t do that entirely, but I really love taking photos and listing them in my shop because it makes me happy when someone enjoys my work enough to hang it on their wall or gift it to a loved one.

Share a memory from a favorite photo shoot.

In 2011, I was doing a photoshoot for a girl who wanted some new stuff for her modeling portfolio. We mostly did it for fun and the experience. While walking around a lake to find some nice spots, we found some construction equipment that said “fuck bitches” on it and had penises spraypainted all over it. So of course that was our prop for the afternoon. I wish I could find more photos from that, but you can find one of them here.

Tell us a little about yourself. Anything – shoot!

I’m 6 years older than Micaela (Harlynn? Is that what I call her here? Whatever, I like both names). I started climbing with my fiance last month and I’m completely addicted, partly because I want to scare boys with my big muscles. I like big butts and I cannot lie! Oh, and if you check out my Etsy shop, I also do custom orders on my Scrabble tile photos if there’s a specific word or phrase you’d like on one of them. The sillier, the better.

You can find her on Etsy here.

DIY polymer clay rose

What you need:
Polymer Clay
Oven
Flat clean work surface
Proper clay cutter or knife

Start by pulling off a piece of your kneaded clay. Just a tiny ball, then flatten it out.
After, twirl it leaving the top so theres a "gap".

Repeat step one layering onto the rose.

You can work with the layers to make them look more life like petals.

Keep adding layers, creating a bottom to hold onto. Finger prints are always strange looking on a flower.

Once you feel you have enough petals, cut the bottom off neatly.

Now bake your creation as labeled on your clay! Most are 230 degrees Fahrenheit for no longer than 30 minutes. I usually keep mine in for about 25 to prevent breaking.

Doodle

After doodling I had a nice ink print on the paper under my masterpiece. I'm really happy how this turned out, and actually like it more than the initial drawing.

 Do you doodle?

3rd world problems

Why does everything seem worse than it really is? Since I cut my hair and gained some weight I've felt like complete shit. The spring can come any day now! I have what seems to be the opposite of summertime sadness. Winter blues? Regardless, it sucks.

I have nothing going for me. No job, no college, no circus performing. Only myself surviving in this fucked up world to eventually accomplish something. I'd love to somehow make this world a happier place. You could say become a doctor or donate to UNICEF, but those aren't enough. I recently saw machine gun preacher (wasn't half bad). If love to be a tough bitch with a machine gun saving children in Africa who are victims of Kony.

What ever happened to Kony 2012? The media did its job to shut down the main man of the organization with a ridiculous scandal. It makes me sick we let this stop us from helping innocent people. People who are young, and forced to kill their parents only to become part if the rebels and kill others.

On a side note, I have become quite find of pig tails. What's on your mind?

Essie Luxeffects review

I was stoked to own my first Essie brand nail polish after a trip to Meijer. I got a new sparkly clear coat. New part of the line called Luxeffects It's lovely in the bottle, but not so much on the nails.

The paint comes out very gloppy. If you get a fine coat, no sparkles (or very few) even show! For Essie, I'm disappointed. I don't suggest any of their brand clear or sparkle coats.

I'm partnering up with CLK Fashion Link-up.

Chaotic Goddess Swaps book swap revealed

I joined in on the Chaotic Goddess Swaps book swap last month. I was super pumped to not only get some new reads, but pick out some for my fellow reader!

We had to pick a book we read and loved, we haven't read but want to, and one from our partners wish list. The books had to abide by our partners genre preferences. Which was a pleasant experience considering we were set up with somebody who had similar genre tastes. My partner, Miss.Angie of My so-called Chaos, sent me three lovely books.

Books I received include Lord of the Flies, Perfect, and The Graveyard Book.

You may wonder why the poop is want Lord of the Flies. Well, I never got to read it in school. Probably one in a million over here. I'm currently reading it and am hooked.

Perfect is an Ellen Hopkins book, which already means its a five star! I can't wait to crack open this one next. I feel it might help with my confidence issues also. Or maybe it will backfire, hehe.

The Graveyard Book I haven't heard of. It's a dark fantasy filled adventure, which is right up my alley. The description had my attention from beginning to end.

I'm very pleased with the books I received, and hope Miss.Angie is too!!
Be sure to check out Chaotic Goddess Swaps to sign up for any upcoming swaps. They're tons of fun!!

This final round has the top 3 of each category. Voting lasts only a week, so be sure to head over to My So-Called Chaos to vote!

On another note

Life lately has been pretty boring. Stuck in my boyfriends basement waiting for him to come home from work days on end. The 17th was my 21st birthday, and I was lucky enough to get a DSLR camera from my faja. I plan to head over to my "other" home and take some pictures soon! Along with hula hoop for a few hours. I definitely could use it. Can't wait for spring any longer...

I recently read about a cat in Japan who has a managers job. I don't even have a job, while this cat does. She's made over $1 billion for the company, and was promoted. The ceremony for the promotion included the mayor and the company's employees (along with fellow citizens). Either my cat needs to get a job, or I do.

Be sure to check out my Hoops for the People hula hoop Giveaway!

Turning 21

Yesterday I turned 21-years-old. No, I didn't go spend it at the bar all night. Since I take certain medication, I can't exactly drink without high health risks. Can't say I'm upset, I'll get a whiskey eventually. On my birthday in my dreams list you'll see I wanted a DSLR camera. Well, I got a DSLR camera from my faja. Now I can write my awesome posts with awesome pictures to go along, haha. Fashion posts to come!

On a side note, why is Steven Seagal in movies? The other night my boyfriend's dad and I watched Maximum Conviction. One of those mistakes you just don't talk about. The fights, the "suspenseful" music, the horrible acting, all hilarious. I definitely suggest never seeing this movie.

Mind blowing simplicity

The liquid in young coconuts can be used as a substitute for blood plasma.

Jam & jelly are different. Jelly is more chunky, jam is more smooth.

Donkeys kill more people annually than plane crashes or sharks.

Cats don't like hair dryers or water because of the way their hair follicles and skin type is affected.

Boston Market pays employees just as bad as Walmart.

Pearls melt in vinegar.

No average piece of paper can be folded in half more than seven times.

Tutorials for "5-minute hairstyles" take far more than 5-minutes.

The king of hearts is the only king without a mustache in a deck of cards.

The longest word you can type using only one row on a keyboard is "typewriter".

Dollie

My cousin's daughter is just about the only person who can brighten me up on a horrible day. I haven't seen her since Easter 2013, but my mom stops by every so often. The most recent she told me munchkin wanted to have my mom give me a doll. My mom said "but I told her to just keep it for now".

Me: Aww, you should have kept it for me.

My mother: Well no see, Grandma told me she's...

Me (interrupting): She's scared of a doll isn't she?

My mother: Well it's one of those porcelain dolls..

Me: What?! You totally should have saved it and gave it to me! Poor girl. Remember when I was like 7 and watched part if poltergeist?

My mother: You saw poltergeist?

Well, that basically explains the story to share and my view on the subject. I remember when I was about her age I had a porcelain clown doll. After receiving it I immediately gave it to my friend at at her birthday party. Therefore I can relate to the phase of "scary dolls".

Hoops for the People + Hula hoop Giveaway

Meet Brittini of Hoops for the People

Just a small town girl living in a dizzy world! I love camping, hiking, skiing, kayaking, and reading. A few of my favorite authors are George Martin, Robert Jordan, and Brandon Sanderson. I love to travel and I am always planning for my next adventure.

What inspired you to start hula hooping?
One of my friends brought her hoop to a small local show. She had only been hooping a few months but she already had such flow and grace, I was instantly hooked. I couldn't even keep the hoop going around my waist when I started. Every new trick was a challenge and I loved learning. The community surrounding hooping is really what inspired me to keep hula hooping. Hoopers love to jam together and I have met some of my best friends while hooping.

What was it that made you take that extra step into creating your own supplies?
I started making hoops as soon as I outgrew my first 160 PSI hoop. I wanted a smaller hoop and some mini hoops but I didn't want to drop $50 on another hoop. I started selling and trading my hoops at festivals, and I gave many of my first hoops away for free to friends. I started my Etsy store about 7 months after I initially started making hoops, and when I look at where I started I am proud of what I have accomplished.

How long have you been hooping and making hoops?
Two years

Explain your shop name.
Hoops for the People- give my people hula hoops! Spinning creates a natural euphoria, and I think everyone would be a little happier if they played with a hula hoop every day.

What's your favorite genre of music to hoop to?
Is Wookiefoot a genre? Without a doubt my all-time favorite music.

What material tubing is your favorite to work with? Dance with?
Polypro!! So light and responsive.
