My experience Christmas shopping on Etsy

This Christmas I shopped on Etsy for everybody. Since I procrastinated until mid-december I had to hope they arrived before Christmas (which they all did). The shop owners were awesome with shipping, packaging, and extras from a few for the holidays (or bulk purchases). Of course I purchased from my favorite shops, but this round made a few more.

Dethpsun

One of my all time favorite shops for awhile now. The painting style is unique, and includes a lot of detailed work. Came across this shop searching for hula hoop related art. How can it get better than finding a bunny hula hooping in space? Stickers are only a buck a pop. Every time my order arrived, it included some extras! For gifts I purchased the typewriter cat sticker (which my younger cousin loved), and the postcard set 2. Most are already used up for my thank you letters.

Sweetgyrldesigns

Vintage trading cards galore! Each order included an extra goodie. My purchases included multiple trading cards (Babysitters Club, Bill nye the science guy, Startrek, Bevis and butthead), and a vintage Smurf coloring book. All the trading cards were first edition and in great condition. I've yet to invest in early Garbage pail kids packs (which isn't easy coming across).

Dopeonaropesoap

"Don't smoke it, soak it". Soap made with ingredients from the good ole herb on a hemp rope. Didn't fail to impress! Comes in a clear vacuum sealed package, with their slogan and shop name on a tag. Each scent is related to a specific strand.

These are just a few Etsy shops to keep in mind for future gifts. Have you Christmas shopped on Etsy in the past?

Years of madness - rewind

Within my years of blogging, I've taken a liking for certain past posts. In some cases even feel the need to re-write the same topic. For instance, what's up with the whole Micaela/Harlynn name game. You can read the elaborated explanation, it's actually strange how I came about being Harlynn. Also, who Harlynn is.

I've had controversial topics that have both gained and lost readers of mine. My blogging guru always taught me to remember my legal rights while having the courage to post about anything. My bash on the blogging environment was quite the thrill. Favorite opinionated comments by far. When you blog blunt, your feedback is blunt.

My whole small manic redhead living in Metro Detroit topics are the only writings I have relevant to travel. If you're not from Detroit, the casual crimes tend to freak you out. My dumb ass takes daring acts. Including the time I lectured a crack dealer. I was walking to the gas station, complimented a strangers Cadillac, and you can go read how that went.

My circus freak nature started off as a hobby, and became a sport in which I lost 100lbs doing. Here's my success story. Using a weighted hoop your first time is easier because momentum will build without too much repetative speed needed. You can make your own easily. My first few I made myself. Here's the secret on how to make your own adult hula hoop. Wondering what the hell you'd do with a hula hoop? You can learn anything from basic waist hooping to butt hooping.

Fashion bloggers I give much credit for their research and photography. My only OOTD post was surprisingly a success! Check out my fashion sense here. Lately my man has been the fashion police, and now realize I never match. He finds it cute, I find it irritating now that I try coordinating outfits...I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to fashion and beauty.

What's a topic you'd like to read about on Mind Your Madness?

I will no longer let you control me

Laziness and loneliness are often confused. Similar to love and lust, they go hand in hand yet total opposites. When loneliness hits, seclusion follows. Seclusion drives one mad, especially when they've got only themselves to guide their day away. That's when the madness comes into effect. Wasting life away lost in thought. Time is only hope at this point.

I've come to learn ways to help avoid getting lost in your own mind.
Don't find something to depend on. Too many people in my area depend on heroin. Heroin is not a coping skill hoarding puppies isn't either. You need to have control over your dependence.
Smoke trees, but don't pawn your television for a sack. Do yoga, but don't stop contributing to your nutritional health. Learn graffiti art, but don't huff the paint. Learn knive throwing, but don't crave the pain when you accidentally get cut. Take up kick boxing, but don't use it towards others to release anger.

When you're losing control to the point your mind tells your heart and body what to do, continue whatever it is you're doing not what you're thinking about doing. This isn't deep breathing. You won't get looks as if you're in the dentist's waiting room doing some deep breathing (quality entertainment at its best). Think about four things you can view, three things you can feel, two things you can hear, one thing you smell, and one thing you taste.
You have just refreshed all five of your senses, you now have full control. Shit is nifty, works nicely for myself. I'll be bashing the wall with a baseball bat out of control while going through the thought process. I'm usually confused, but hault shortly after.

How do you deal with your "crazy" side?

Roses are red

I've come to fancy the madness down here. Roses are red, violets talk with you, the tea is much better, much warmer as it brewed. The keys in my hand, and I've managed to find the lock. Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if I just would've knocked.

Sometimes I wonder why I keep wandering on. The further I get, the further the madness escalates. Smiles guide me, but I'm not sure where. I remember where the light is...I want out of here.

I had followed a path from the bottom of the rabbit hole. Made it all the way to where I am now, a beautiful flower garden. I pick a rose to put in my hair, and turn to go on my way. The path has vanished. Brushed away like Hansel and Gretal's path of crumbs...

Light of reality

Wandering isn't fun down here if you haven't already caught on from my last two pit stops. As I wander curious where to go I suddenly felt hope. Looked up, and the light...the daylight. Reality. A human hand!? Finally somebody starts to pull me up.

The way out of the rabbit hole is much different than when you fall down. When you fall, time stops. Everything stops. Once the clock starts, you must work your way out. Figure a way back up (without pulling a helping hand down). Grasp the process of reality. The higher you reach, more reality kicks in. I need more strength to climb out. It's time to think initiative...

Locked

The tea party wasn't a success, as I'm still lost. Lost in my mind, locked in a delusion. Eating doesn't even feel real. One cookie alone is enough to make me feel 10x bigger. Maybe because I'm already so full. Full of fear and regrets.
Sinking, shrinking, until I'm drowning in my own tears. This room has taken control of me mentally and physically. I have the key in my hand...all I have to find is the lock.

Mad tea party

Yet again I fell down the rabbit hole. I don't know why, but every time I fall I wander off. Life might be horrifying right now but I don't want a pity party, I want a tea party. The tea down here is bitter, and the host is indeed a mad man. As overwhelming as it is, I've been attending this party quite some time. Could've been on my way awhile ago, but I fear I'll only become more lost.

I'm sure I'll be on my way soon. This time I pray I'm on my way back to the bottom of the hole, where I initially fell. You'll know you're there when you look up. The shining light of reality motivates you to find a way out. Climbing your way out is nearly impossible, and a friend can only reach so far to assist you. The last thing you want is to have them fall too.

Hair and horoscopes

Horoscope is an old Greek saying translating to "time marker".  Your zodiac sign is given depending on the alignment of the moon, stars, and sun at the time of birth. Known commonly as a sign from Heaven. What I didn't know, was your zodiac sign can also determine the best hair for you.

As an Aquarius i'll admit I'm witty, open-minded, yet have very low self esteem. Pity party anyone? Since I was a child people have told me I'm a "funny person". One summer as a kid, my friend's running buddy told me "you should be a comedian!". Never forgot that. The issue with that occupation, I usually don't try to be funny…
I keep an open mind, without letting my brains fall out. Remember, there's three sides to every story. Yours, mine, and the truth.
Confident? I'm pretty damn fearless. Walking around metro and downtown Detroit at ridiculous hours. Really anywhere walking around at 3am is sketchy.

People call me crazy. I call it fearless.

My good hair day is when it's voluminous and flowing free.
      Couldn't agree more.

My brilliant tip is to inspire others with a dramatic darker color.
Couldn't disagree more.

As a natural red-head, it's too much maintaince to go for another color. From our invisible eyelashes to skin completion...it's just too much.

mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Gingers.

If you're into hair coloring, you can take the hair dye advisor quiz. Personally I don't dye my hair anymore, but I still took the quiz. My results? Auburn red How ironic.

In the past Ive dyed my hair black, and after went to blonde after (yes, I'm that stupid).  Madison Reed is the reason my hair is now healthy and back to it's natural color again. Whelp, as a hair color provider they do provide maximum protection!

Post apocalyptic photoshoot

Imagine living in a post apocalyptic world. Complete chaos from the start. Tragic loss of many loved ones. Money no longer has any value, and you'll most likely have property damage. Whatever created the disaster minimizes chances  survival.

I watched this hour special on the Discovery  channel "Top 10 ways the world will end" or some shit. Second was a plague outbreak. The most likely way that'd start is by some asshole chemists working with biological warfare unintenitionally spreading a lethal virus, creating a pandemic. The virus could be an organism that isn't universally considered alive, and continues to reproduce or replicate within their host. A zombie panademic is realistic. Don't get your hopes up though.

The plague could be an epidemic outbreak (HIV, anthrax, Ebola, smallpox, plague fleas). The outbreak starts in one region. By spreading the disease internationally it can be a weapon of war. Creating a pandemic outbreak overtime. Plague fleas (Black Plague), and anthrax (Sent in mail internationally) are two well known examples.

Amazing pool brought to you by my girl Josie. She had previous owners who neglected it. Personally love it. We caught a lil' frog in the swamp! She plans to eventually drain it and use it to skateboard with buddies.

Summer time, the livin's easy

Coming out of the psych ward last summer was finding the glimpse of light, the way out of the rabbit hole. This summer I climbed my way out.

Last summer around this time I was fresh out of the psych ward. Everything seemed more realistic. Including coming home to my brother's wonderful flea infestation...my now distanced junkie buddy, brother, a black dude we know, and myself tore the carpet out. Ditched the furniture, sprayed down the house. Let's just say he no longer has a flea problem. On the contrary, I still only focused on helping others and no occupation.

This summer I'm living in my own home.Three days a week I babysit two adorable toddler girls. My hooping skills have improved, and I had an offer for three gigs. In the above picture you'll see the amazing friend I met this summer. Currently training her to hoop dance. A man as crazy as myself in different ways came into my life, stole my heart, and brought me to reality.

Freedom

When life gives you lemons, you sell that shit to the junk yard for $200. Now a functioning car with no gas is like a relationship with no trust. You can stay in it all you want, but it's not going to go anywhere. Life could be perfect...but some things you just can't get around.  Like used cars and bad livers.

Recently life gave me actual lemons with no sugar. Only made me sour and created tears. I can't explain much, but I pray for freedom everyday. At least appreciate yours everyday.

I'm bring sanity back

All my life I had never realized how psychology ill I am. Disability contacted me. Enough said. My mother has been doing her best to have me apply for the disability. I refused because I didn't want to be a typical lazy housewife.

I have no children, so I feel all I'd do is clean and maintain the yard. People can have a full time job and maintain the household. So I should be able to too, right? Well if that's the case, why the hell am I swallowing myself in self pity chain smoking?

My significant other George Glass told me i wouldn't be taking advantage of it because I'm lazy. That it's there for people like myself to take advantage of. Maybe it took me months to come to that realization, but that's okay. George Glass read my hospitalization records, and said "Well that's an accurate diagnosis".

      My diagnosis'
- Bipolar disorder
- Polysubstance dependence
- Oppositional defiant disorder. My dad did always say I'm a rebel without a clue
- Anxiety
- Rule out conduct disorder
- Cutting & general self infliction

Once you're discharged from a psych ward the only thing on your mind is freedom. Therefore You don't give a fuck about the papers they discharge you with. If my mother hadnt hung onto those papers, they'd be long gone in the trash. Thank God she didn't. After reading my diagnosis I catch my delusional thought, I'm eating healthy. I've been in denial my whole life...

My mother is the strongest person I know. She has always been by my side. Every manic episode in the ER, never failed to visit me after I was admitted. I destroyed her home...I have flipped shit over the fact we only had jiffy pop when I wanted microwaveable popcorn. My mother is in terror from all I've done to her. Everybody who can deal with my crazy ass, they witness my episodes. It's never long before they can't take anymore and want nothing to do with me. My mother has always done her best to help me.

Mom I don't know if you read my blog much, but I'm sorry for all I've done to you. I'm sorry for terrorizing you. I cry when I get flashbacks, and pray you get to live the happy life you've always deserved. if it wasn't for you I'd be a manic mess or just like my cousin Jeremy. Thank you, I love you mom and I'm sorry for all I've put you through.

Lost

I'm not even sure how many weeks ago this was, but it's the last time I was sincerely happy. It's that time of the year the crazies come out to play. I've yet again fallen down the rabbit hole. Though this time when I look up I don't see a peep hole of reality. This time I must have been as dumb as Alice and decide to wander off. At least I can say I know I'm lost.

That unforgettable summer

Growing up was amazing. Aaron Carter poster, lampshade decked out in hearts by my mother, American Girl dolls. Clearly I had amazing interior decor. I'm the littleun on the right representin' Old Navy. My best friend Ellie from ballet is littleun on the left. Ellie was British, and only stayed in the states for a year. Something having to do with her fathers job.

That summer on our way to the local beach we couldn't find something, and Ellie suggests looking in the boot. She meant the trunk. After making it to the beach I was pumped for Ellie to bury me in the sand, assisted by my sister and her boyfriend. Once I lost control of my arm movement I called quits. From what I remember they continued. My sister's boyfriend convinced me it's okay because he's the lifeguard or some shit he was the lifeguard...

Here's Ellie left and myself right today. She's still in England but has plans to visit the states. We haven't seen each other since 2002...I don't know what to expect.

Lemonade stand | Out of principle

My girl and I decided to have a lemonade stand. We wanted quick cash on our in eventful day, and I wanted to have a lemonade stand this summer.

Not only to make quick cash. Many adults questioned our age & why we're having a lemonade stand . I'd stand up, as my girl sits in her chair giggling...and state "It's just as profitable selling lemonade for adults as it is children. As a 22-year-old un-employed girl I'm going to do what I have to do to make money - while respecting myself". Always got the points across, wording is pretty on point for the most part. They all bought a glass. We spent $5 on product, made $16 in an hour.

If you're familiar with The Duck Song, I asked each pedestrian "It's fresh, it's cold, and it's all home made! Can I get you a glass?".

Day at the carnival | Metro Detroit

This weekend my man (George Glass) and I took a visit to a local carnival with my little Venezuelian Angelika too!! Angelika isn't afraid to go on the big rides which was awesome

While George Glass and I had a cigarette, Angelika went on the bumper cars. After watching her get into jams I was in line to show her how it's done.

In front of myself in line were four young children (Around age 8-10). Luckily I overheard one of them state not to go for the white cars...so I questioned him why. He explained to me how the mechanics make it the least powerful. Immediately I inquired which was the best car to use. He stated black.

            Things got serious

These kids and I had a system. The system - we all run for a black car, switch partners from there.
The gate opens. We got the cars...but Angelika chose her own car. Therefore I was now Han Solo. A young 6-year-old saves the day, asking adorably to be shotgun. Before the cars started she explained how I reverse and such. She asked to drive if I have the pedal. We negotiated.
I got us out of jams and aimed slightly towards an open space. This littleun' aimed correctly towards our buddies and would bump them up!  That girl was the best bumper car partner I've ever had.

Enhancing natural beauty

The girls of a family I'm close friends with held a Mary Kay party when the boys were out of town. The bottom left you see the lovely Trudy (host), bottom right is Shirley (The specialist), top left is Alex (My main b!$&%), and I reside in the top right.

MaryKay specialist Shirley Nunez came out with a project called Enhancing Natural Beauty (something I've been working on within myself past few years, I currently only use mascara). Shirley taught me there's more to a healthy, pretty face than just cake facing and using a good quality face scrub and cleanser.

First step, remove eye make up (my at-home eye makeup remover is already MaryKay)
Second step, use facial scrub. This facial scrub was so gentle, and my skin felt so fresh - so clean. Hehe.
Third, fourth, and fifth step, simply put the lotion on the skin. Follow up with CC cream, and a light bronzer to enhance your cheek bones. When I was done with the process my skin felt pretty nifty not going to lie. No cake faced feeling, look, or really anything caked on. Mascara came last. The only product I didn't dig was the mascara. I have yet to experiment more with it. though - mascaras my thang!

I not only have I learned healthy, natural techniques with beauty products...but had a great time! This isn't an Avon cliche Tupperware party kinda vibe. The only time stupid common sense facts would be spoken of when I asked them... (ahaha - seriously).
Not saying "go buy the product now! blah blah!"
I'm saying something more along the lines of "yo, throwing a free Mary Kay Party isn't going to kill". It was definitely worth attending!

Norman Rockwell | The shiner

Growing up, my pops got me into Norman Rockwell's artwork. Growing up I was also a fearless little girl. Quite the handful. Weeks after becoming Student of the Month in 4th grade, I got my first detention. The office staff knew me well since. Hehehe...
This little ginger in the painting shows pride in her fearless smile. She may have a black eye and a few bruises, but she's happy about something in particular...

At first look you'd think she got her ass kicked.
Why would she be so giddy though?
After all she's at the principal's office. Where she'd probably just lost a fight, but doesn't care because she did it out of principle

      Officially my favorite Rockwell painting.

Throwback | Austin Powers Jaguar

Back in '04 I spent the whole summer with my best friend Eleanor, who I met in ballet class. Her family came from England for something work related with her dad she moved back in the fall…
During that summer my brother's Boy Scout troupe had a classic car show.
Giving us the privelage to ride in the real Austin Powers jaguar! Same one Mike Myers Rode in, and we didn't even care about the experience at the time. We've seen the one Austin Power movie and knew of the trade marks…just mainly cared about the ride in the car itself. Cruising down Marine City on our way home was amazing.

I'm the littleun in the back left, Eleanor on the right. My brotha resides in the passenger while my faja drives. In the laps of Eleanor and I we hold our beloved American Girl dolls. Couldn't go anywhere without them!
I haven't seen Eleanor since that year. It was only about 2-years ago she found me on Facebook - thankfully. Hopefully her family comes back to visit the states! I'd love to visit her with all honesty.

OOTD | Summertime freedom

Tribal attire has my heart this year. Turquoise has a spot in my heart too. Very calm color, reminds me of mermaids (The magical non-scary as shit part of the sea). Bum bags are perfect if you're one to have an unorganized "Mary Poppins" purse like myself. The floral design on this particular bag fits beautifully with a daisy crown. Since I was a littleun I've wanted a daisy crown made of real daisies - because of Disney's Alice in Wonderland. I've made several attempts with real daisies...still have yet to succeed.

As much of a flower child as I am, still I remain strange. Freedom is a privilege. Imagine feeling as free as a pineapple in a tree. Keep a pineapple in each outfit to remind yourself of your freedom.

D Day | Brian Williams live report

71-years ago yesterday (June, 6) America came in on Germany with full blast on D Day. Germany attacked with full blast creating many problems. Problems clearly 'Merica took care of regardless. It wasn't exactly an amazing experience living in America at the time So I'd imagine. You're a male? If you qualify after the the health test you're coming to fight. You're a female? We're leaving you here to sit worried about your loved one(s). From a mother to a house wife, you sit in fear. The best part is waiting for the post man every day, yet dreading a telegram.

Imagine having to ride a ship to run out onto the beach where snippers are shooting ridiculously at you.

"I was the first one out. The seventh man was the next one to get across the beach without being hit. All the ones in between were hit. Two killed - three injured. That's how lucky you had to be."
- Captain Richard Merrill

Creating a life I don't need a vacation from

My newest summer goal (since I'm 97% sure I got a hoop gig!). I have always said we all want a break or vacation from life. Dreams are your vacation. However - don't get swallowed into self pity, sleeping all day everyday just to vacation. I realized lately I haven't craved a vacation from life! A couple new social changes, big ones, have made a huge impact.
Exhibit A...

I haven't seen my lil Venezuelian doll face in way too long. I was the cousin she'd spend days upon days with - from when she was a baby until she hit 5-years-old. This is the 3rd time I've seen her in 2-years. I missed so much in so little time...but I can see her much more now!

This littleun will always have a place in my heart.

Julep Maven | It Girl

It's that time of the month! I'm talking about my Julep Maven box, hehe. This one didn't come with any particular theme, but the colors are lovely for this weather. The lime green and bright ballet pink are gorgeous!

It's still the "It Girl" collection. The green is Sam and the ballet pink is Lillian. I'm giving the pink to surprisingly not my mother this time whom is obsessed with pink, but my main b!tch Alex's 3-year-old daughter Lillian. She'll be starting ballet next season so it's perfect!!

As you all know, my favorite of all presents is the candy included in each package. I got amazing flavored Chupa Chup's! My step-dad got me a Hello Kitty tin full of them from Sweden a few years ago. I fell in love with them since.
